Update: Dasha Zhukova confirmed for POP (along with Daphne Guinness and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld!)

dashazhukova_pop_confirmed.jpgEarly last Friday morning we posted the goss that Dasha Zhukova was being touted as the next editor to replace Katie Grand as editor of POP. Over the weekend that rumour was confirmed.

"I am tremendously excited to take on this challenge," she said. "We are working hard on a complete revamp of the magazine in order to provide a broader point of view focusing also on art, contemporary culture and the globalisation of all things POP-related."

But that's not all. Joining the Kova & T designer on POP's new masthead is Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and Daphne Guinness. While, she hasn't been officially confirmed yet, Olympia Scarry is also believed to be part of the new POP team, in the capacity of artistic director.

Ashley Heath, editorial director of Bauer Media (which owns POP), added his two pence worth:

"I'm delighted to return to the magazine in partnership with Dasha Zhukova to revamp POP. Together we have ambitious plans. These are challenging times and yet they are also extremely exciting. Dasha represents a fantastic combination of style, intelligence, youth and cultural clout. Her international perspective is key."

Word on the street is that many editors were approached by Bauer for the job, but because it was Katie's baby felt "reluctant to helm a title stamped with her identity."

As My Fashion Life concedes, will we now see a POP vs. LOVE rag war, as exists with Elle vs. Vogue?

  • The first revamped issue of POP will hit newsstands on 1st September and will sell for £5.
