Paris Fashion Week: Alexander McQueen A/W 2009-10 Gallery
If you have been waiting to be blown away this season, then Alexander McQueen is your man. The British designer threw caution to the wind (along with all that boring recession talk) and went large for his Fall '09 show. Many were left divided over McQueen's showmanship, with his scary clown-like models (I was freaked!) causing all manner of arguments afterwards over the portrayal of women as sex dolls. Blah! Nevertheless, the clothes spoke for themselves. Constructed from recycled materials, such as lampshades and bin-liners, they were an extreme, almost disturbing vision that sent chills down your spine. Personally, I adored McQueen's uninhibited sense of direction, that bordered on haute couture, with everything from oversized houndstooth knit to scrapheap evening gowns. Hats off also to Philip Treacy, who designed the fantastical headwear.
