Rumours of Jil Sander's comeback have been swirling since Paris Fashion Week, when she attended the recent Première Vision fabric fair. Now, details of her return have been revealed, only not in the way that you might have expected.
It seems Sander is heading for a role within Uniqlo - to oversee its men's and women's apparel. According to WWD, she is about to sign a "design consulting agreement" in conjunction with the Japanese retailer.
While there won't be an official title waiting for her, Sander will be in charge of all the retailer's products excluding accessories and children's wear. A source also added that there could be an exclusive collection on the cards for Uniqlo by the designer.
Sander exited her namesake company in 2004, after experiencing creative differences with Patrizio Bertelli, the CEO of the brand's former owner, Prada Group. Confirmation of her new role is yet to be announced.
