Some of Europe's most treasured court costumes are about to be given pride of place again at Versailles. Sponsored by Chanel, the "Fastes de Cour & Cérémonies Royales" ("Court Pomp & Royal Ceremony") exhibition, which showcases costumes from 1650 to 1800, will open today. The exhibition took 14 years to get off the ground, with wardrobes and jewellery from European monarchies including Germany, Russia, Vienna, Denmark and Sweden on display. Although sadly you won't find any surviving remnants of Queen Marie-Antoinette's spectacular wardrobe.

  • The exhibition will run from 31st March until 28th June, 2009.
