It was around the end of the '90s that wearing trainers with skirts and dresses was last cool which is ten years ago now. This look seems to be making a comeback, thanks in part to the resurgence of Reebok's Freestyle trainer (bottom right) which can be spotted on the feet of every cool kid across the UK. Lanvin's covetable sneaks (bottom left) have grosgrain laces, and Ash's silver hi tops add a bit of glam to the proceedings. Martin Margiela's offering have cool cutouts, great for summer and they will look good teamed with bright tights.

Hi-tops seem a little more current than your average trainer, and the ankle height is surprisingly flattering when teamed with a skirt or a dress. If you're thinking of trying out the look wear your sneaks with a voluminous mini for a punchy, youthful look or with a floaty, girly dress to contrast your shoes.
