There was a lot of 'ooh'ing and 'aah'ing at the DIY fashion tutorials featured in the Observer Woman this weekend. We love nothing more than getting our hands dirty in the name of fashion, and you can make a Jade Jagger bracelet, Paul Smithify your shirt and make a stretchy Vivienne Westwood dress.

You can also make a Maison Martin Margiela waistcoat. The waistcoat itself is a newspaper and Spraymount confection which looks like fun to make but the most fun to be had is playing 'Imagine Those Are Martin Margiela's Actual Hands'®. Ignore the fact they are probably a woman's hands for a minute and pretend they are mysterious Margiela himself. Exciting!
