With everyone still debating over the choice of little-known actor Matt Smith to play the 11th Doctor Who, many have overlooked another piece of casting gossip that we first mentioned months ago.
Agyness Deyn was first thrown up as a possibility to star in the Doctor Who Christmas Special back in June. But now it seems that the model could become an actual choice to play the Doctor's sidekick. The show's producers are reportedly looking for someone who is famous outside the world of acting, and who can replicate the success of Billie Piper, the Doctor's former assistant.
"Someone terribly exciting like Billie Piper, who was at the beginning of her acting career but who had a profile for other reasons, would be great. We are looking for someone whose light can burn brightly," said executive producer, Piers Wenger.
Other contenders for the role include Lily Allen, Kelly Brook and Rachel Stevens.
"We would never cast anyone on the basis of their celebrity, but if Lily wanted to audition we would be delighted. It would be a lot of fun," Wenger added.
