UPDATE: Topshop staff deny Christina Aguilera deal

Those rumours that Christina Aguilera could be on the brink of signing a very lucrative deal with Topshop have been squashed by Topshop staff.

After the dailies caught wind of the story last month (even though we blogged about it back in October, natch!) the folks over at British Elle did some digging and discovered it all to be just a fancy.

According to their sources, Topshop aren't adding the song diva to their payroll, but rather focussing on promoting British design talent this year, which of course I love to hear.

After all, what exactly would an Aguilera collection bring to the British high street? Bombshell-style flapper dresses? Poodle skirts and early American military garb (I'm referencing her Candyman video here if you didn't already guess). Actually, that wouldn't be so bad... *sigh*
