Flashdance doesn't immediately conjure up images of high style, the main thing that would come to mind when thinking about this '80s film is the toilet chain water splash scene. If you've seen the film you'll know what I mean and if you haven't then watch it this weekend. Here is a taster with a montage of some of the best bits.
Alex --played by Jennifer Beals, the main character in the film, wears a variety of outfits which make great fashion inspiration. Her trapper hat, trainers and mini skirt combo worn she playfully dances with a policeman look surprisingly modern and her army mac, jeans and coral heels ensemble is a look I am definitely going to emulate. Her stage costumes are also a sight to behold: the angular red jacket, massive shouldered furry dress and leotards all set the sartorial regions of the brain working.
