Industry Interview: Net a Porter's Holli Rogers
Give us a short description of your job
I oversee NET-A-PORTER.COM's buying choices and seasonal direction. I love it.
What was the most exciting/interesting thing that happened this week?
Last week I was in Los Angeles on buying appointments which is pretty exciting - the last couple of months have been jam-packed with shows, appointments and travel.
Which trends do you think are going to be big in the next few months?
Proportions have shifted. Pants are back and they are coming in more shapes and sizes than we've seen in recent seasons - I'm still a big fan of the skinny pant (especially the Alexander McQueen leather pants and Les Chiffoniers sequin leggings) but Oscar de la Renta have done some fab wide-leg pajama pants and Maje has a great pair of Harem-style pants which are fun and different. Fashion is quite theatrical at the moment too with some strong trends that you can really get your teeth into - there's a folk vibe and also a dark romantic theme channeling through... certainly plenty to have fun with. For spring there's a lot of print.
What are you wearing to death at the moment?
With the weather being so changeable, I'm layering Rick Owens long-sleeved t-shirts with one of his leather jackets and of course carrying a great big Miu Miu tote. Now that things are cooling down a little I can't take off my Donna Karan cashmere infinity scarf! I am also loving my Paul & Joe Tuxedo blazer - perfect day to night. I believe that if you invest in a selection of great, versatile separates then you are safe whatever the weather or season.
What was the last book you read/album you listened to?
I am currently reading my sister's first book - 'Gone Tomorrow: The Hidden Life of Garbage' by Heather Rogers and driving around L.A. the NET-A-PORTER team were listening to Santogold every day.
