lipstickjungle_saved.jpgHold onto your Jimmy Choos people! It looks like Lipstick Jungle may have been saved from cancellation at the eleventh hour.

Fresh news reports claim that NBC bosses haven't axed the series from its schedule just yet, after ratings crept up by 50 per cent in the U.S. on Friday night. Viewers responded to rumours that the show was close to being pulled, by tuning in and sending mail asking the network to keep the show going.

This prompted NBC's Ben Silverman to announce that the network will definitely finish the 13 episodes that it originally ordered. There are still a further four episodes to go, with the possibility of ordering more if it "grows more."

Meanwhile, Brooke Shields has expressed her disbelief at the reports.

"It's not true. They're not breaking down the sets. We're still working. We still have more to do, so it's erroneously presented that we've been cancelled, thank God," she told "Our bosses are saying, 'You're not cancelled, don't worry. We're just trying to figure out how to make this make sense'."

She is hopeful that if viewers tune in when the show airs, rather than taping it and watching it later, then LJ might be saved.

"I actually am (optimistic). I mean, we're basically No. 1 if you look at DVR. And you look at all that. So the public is watching it. The problem that they have is it's not the same day live. They just need to figures out how to reconcile advertisers' money because the advertisers don't want you fast forwarding commercials."
