George Davies will soon be packing his bags and leaving Marks & Spencer amid a restructuring of the womenswear division. It was announced this week that Davies will step down as chairman of M&S's Per Una brand at the end of the year.

Per Una began in 2001 and has struggled to attract its target market of the younger buyer, which has often been blamed on its dull offerings. Davies previously headed up Next and George at Asda.

"George has done a fantastic job in establishing Per Una and building it into a significant brand," M&S chief Stuart Rose said. "We are immensely grateful to him for all he has done for M&S."
