CQ Watch: How to wear a corset

If the burlesque revival has left you itching to try a full-on steel boned corset, this video from London vintage lingerie brand What Katie Did will give you an idea of the work that goes into actually putting it on. I think the results are more than worth the effort, but it's hard to believe women did this every day a hundred years ago.

I loved it! It was cute. I know I need one in my life now.

I didnt intend my comments as mean spirited .... I just meant to point out that in no way did she need to wear a corset for its original purpose. Wearing one for decorative purposes is fine and also fun sometimes, I just I just always think of them a functional pieces.

As for the laces .... Is there a good/non painful way to hide them so they dont make visible lumps under your outer garment?

Wow, what did she ever do to you!? ;-)

I don't see anything wrong with wearing corsets decoratively. Whether you're big or small a bit of help getting the hourglass shape is always good!

I have one of the ones with hooks down the front that's more like shapewear than corsetry, and it's nowhere near as good (or pretty) as a proper old-fashion number. You get a much better shape with lacing up the back.

Firstly I'd like to point out that little Miss Flat-Tummy doesn't need a corset. Back in the day those things were easier to manage because there were always other women around to help out with the laces in the back. Now if you need one for its actual purpose there are plenty that only have hooks in the front or Victoria's Secret makes one that you pull on over your head (and then have to wrestle with to get off).

A note to all first time corset wearers: Be careful how tight you do them up. You can faint .... I know because I almost did once ... it was totally worth it though. I wear a functional (as opposed to decorative) corset everyday now.
