It's official. I'm bored of little black dresses. We're still weeks away from Christmas, the parties haven't even started, and already I've seen, written about, read about or worn too many of them. Luckily, there is an alternative.

Red dresses are longer reserved for Chris de Burgh songs, and this season every high street store has some kind of killer scarlet party frock. Debenhams have a whole section devoted to them, in fact. I'm loving Pearce Fionda's ruffly, tiered option (£150) and the Debut one-shoulder, flower trimmed dress (£70) which is basically a shorter, more wearable version of the red dresses worn by Kate Winslet and Anne Hathaway to the Oscars in 2002 and 2008 respectively.
