Topshop eyes up expansion in Japan
While things seem to be on permanent pause for Topshop in the U.S., retail efforts in Japan appear to be stepping up a notch.
WWD reports that Topshop is expanding by doubling its flagship store in Tokyo, as well as adding another seven stores in the city over the next three years via a new franchising agreement.
"It's always been on our list of where we feel Topshop and Topman should be," said Topshop managing director, Mary Homer. "[The Japanese are] brave. They sort of break the rules and that's really what Topshop is about."
The new bigger Topshop Tokyo flagship store reopens this week, all 5,320 square feet of it.
