Sir Philip Green staying positive in the face of an uncertain economic future
He was named one of this year's most influential people in fashion by The Evening Standard earlier this week, and now Sir Philip Green is likely hoping that his influence will reach far and wide in these turbulent economic times.
Despite facing a possible recession in the U.K., and a quieter-than-normal holiday shopping season, Green is remaining upbeat about his company's prospects.
"I'm a retailer, not a clairvoyant, which means I don't know what holiday sales are going to be like," the Arcadia boss told WWD. "We can end the world now, or try and stay upbeat about the future."
Meanwhile, he did warn that shoppers were being 'spooked' by reports in the media of a financial crisis.
"We haven't seen any real corporate collapse, and we haven't seen a consumer collapse. Is everyone being made nervous by daily headlines of Armageddon? Yes," he also said, earlier this week.
