Rochas revived for ready-to-wear
Rochas looks set to be revived after owner Procter & Gamble Co. signed a global agreement with Italy's Gibò Co. SpA to launch a ready-to-wear label.
The move comes two years after it was closed down due to losing profits. The first ready-to-wear collection is tipped for March 2009, but a creative director is yet to be announced.
"We are still evaluating the designer amidst a pool of candidates because the agreement was just finalised on Monday," said Gibò president Franco Penè.
"This license is actually more of a joint venture with Procter & Gamble because they will bring their marketing skills and we will contribute our fashion know-how to develop Rochas with ready-to-wear, knitwear and accessories," he added.
We know that former Rochas designer Olivier Theyskens isn't an option since he is now at Nina Ricci... so I wonder who they have in mind.
