Paris Fashion Week: Dries Van Noten S/S 09
Like many designers this season Dries Van Noten seems to be mirroring the global tightening of belts by putting a hold on his usual floaty, ethnic aesthetic.
Thanks to his masterful colour palette and and clever mix of fabrics it was nontheless a collection which inspired and delighted. Knee-length skirts, wrap tops and capri trousers were carefully tailored to project a sartorial insouciance. Checks, dip-dyes and floaty colourful silks all pointed towards the wardrobe of a classy yet stylish older woman, which increasingly seems to be the kind of person the fashion world is catering for.
