Paris Fashion Week: Maison Martin Margiela S/S 09

Celebrating his 20th year designing wasn't going to be a reason for the elusive Martin Margiela to step out into the crowd. His white lab-coated assistants stepped out onto the catwalk while Margiela apparently looked on backstage.
There was no Valentino-style sentimentality despite the rumours of retirement, more of a triumphant vibe bubbled as models strutted down in the wide shouldered jackets that are pipped to become the next big silhouette. As usual models faces were obscured and humour abounded with skin-coloured bodysuits giving the impression of half-worn clothes. The shopping bag body is a stroke of genius and has made its way onto my wishlist!
