Fashion or Art? The selvedge dress
Forget fashion week. Forget couture. This is the most amazing creation I have seen in a long time.
I don't usually indulge my crafty side much on CQ (we have Crafty Crafty for that) but when I saw this dress, I couldn't possibly let it disappear into the archives of blogland without showing it to everyone I possibly could. At first glance you might think 'yes, a pretty retro frock', but then you realise it's made entirely from selvedges...
For those who don't know, selvedges are the little rough edges that run down the sides of rolls of fabric (to seal the weave) and they're quite often printed with brand names, numbers or other distinctive maker's marks. They're also only about 2cm wide, which gives you an idea of just how many selvedges were needed to make the many stripes on this amazing dress.
In short, Jodie has created more than a dress. It's closer to a work of art, and I can't even begin to fathom how long it took to put it all together. There are loads more pictures on her blog, so make sure you take a look! [via A Dress a Day]
