Paris Fashion Week: Gareth Pugh S/S 2009

Paris Fashion Week kicked off over the weekend with our very own Gareth Pugh and his debut show for Paris. The black and white collection was inspired by Hamlet, Millais' Ophelia and Elizabeth I. Models including Jourdan Dunn and Lily Donaldson took to the runway in monochrome outfits featuring ruffled collars, sculptured shapes, and white PVC - a trademark of Pugh's. Although still highly dramatic, it seems that he has softened a little while still retaining the strong elements of amour-like clothing. Other notable mentions included safety-pin neck pieces and scarves, as well as his first footwear offering, which consisted of simple black and white platforms.
