The publicity surrounding Justin Timberlake's William Rast label this season has been immense, but as the label took to the catwalk at NY fashion week could the clothes live up to the hype?

The answer is 'probably'. Though nobody will be winning any design awards for safe the luxe-Western collection, it does what it says on the tin, tying in nicely with the theme we've seen in the Justin / Erin teaser campaign. I actually thought the menswear was much stronger than the womenswear, but there were some great leather jackets, metallic scarves and slouchy bleached denims on offer for the fairer sex...

What didn't fare so well was an excess of fringing on trousers and a skirt, and blanket-like ponchos which weren't particularly ugly but did leave me wondering if buying an actual blanket wouldn't give the same effect for what was likely to be a lot less cash.

William Rast is, unsurprisingly, a very American label with plenty of denim and leather, stars and stripes tees and rock chic glamour. Fans of Timberlake will no doubt be foregoing their current Abercrombie & Fitch or American Eagle shopping sprees to invest in a bit of William Rast. Expect to see Jessica Biel in more of the jeans, too.
