London Fashion Week S/S 09 gallery: Christopher Kane
The premise for Christopher Kane's show was "Prehistoric" (with a pinch of Flinstones thrown in), although it ended up feeling a bit like we'd jumped into the space age, with geometric dresses taking on a robotic - or perhaps space hopper - quality.
While these scalloped and spherical frocks were jaw-dropping/perplexing/a lot of other great adjectives I can't even come up with right now, the truly weirdest and wackiest piece I've seen in a long time was the Planet of the Apes gorilla-face pleated dress with Stegosaurus sleeves - can you imagine being confronted with this monster in the street!? Love it. A palette of muted yellow, pumpkin orange, beige, grey, peach(!) and white will be welcomed with open arms come spring I'm sure, and personally, I secretly want to be welcoming those scalloped ankle-grazing trousers into my life also!
