Yay or Nay - Fake Fur

We've talked a lot in the past about real fur, and it's safe to say the topic always results in a great debate. But this time, I want to know what you think of the fakes. There'll be loads of faux fur jackets and coats in the shops in the coming months, but do you think they're a good idea? Is fake fur a bit of fun, or are you worried people will think you're wearing the real thing? Or do you just think it looks rubbish? Let us know with a comment below*.

Although I think it can look classy on some people in a retro kind of way I'm going to have to give it a Nay as I don't think it's that practical. I mean, it rains all the time here, and fake fur goes rubbish when it's wet. Plus it's a bit bulky looking

I would worry that people think I am wearing the real thing. I know I have sounded off on how much I hate real fur and the people who wear it, so I will spare you my lecture. My problem with fake fur is that I think it still encourages people to want the real thing. Unless you live in Siberia, there is not need for fur ... real or fake.

I completely agree with the others--if real fur can't be worn anymore, why are we trying to re-live the past by offering up an icky, flammable material for people to wear? personally, I think the fashion industry needs to drop the whole fur fad. There are so many other great materials to work with

NAY - Fake fur is only justifiable when it's not trying to look like real fur. If you choose not to wear real fur, what's the point of trying to look like you're wearing real fur. Bright orange or crazy yeti fake fur is fab and fun. Either do wear animal skins or don't, and if you choose to wear them, be prepared for the aggro you may get. I used to get aggro for wearing a vintage 1960's fake fur jacket from people who couldn't tell the difference so now only wear it if I'm prepared to eat it - cow, rabbit, kangaroo (bike leathers).
