Valentino cites Julia Roberts' Oscar dress as career highlight
While trolling the red carpet at this week's Venice Film Festival, Valentino paid tribute to Julia Roberts, citing her Oscar win in one of his couture gowns, as the highlight of his career.
"I have dressed so many people but I have to be sincere. The person that made me feel so very, very happy was Julia Roberts," he said of the actress, who won the Oscar for Best Actress in 2001, while wearing a black and white vintage Valentino gown.
"When she got the Academy Award for Erin Brockovich I watched it on television and really I was so excited that she appeared in my dress. It makes me so very happy and proves once more that movie stars love my clothes," he added.
Valentino is currently in Venice for the premiere of the fly-on-the-wall documentary, Valentino: The Last Emperor, which follows the last few years before his retirement.
