Fur advert upsets Stella McCartney

An advert featuring a model wearing Stella McCartney lingerie underneath a fur coat has outraged the British designer, prompting her to threaten legal action. McCartney, an avid animal-rights campaigner, was reportedly angered after seeing one of her black lace bras together with a mink fur coat in an advert for Mayfair fur boutique, Hockley.

"Stella went absolutely ballistic when she saw it,' a source told The Mail on Sunday. "I have never seen her so angry. She hit the roof and said that she planned to sue."

"She didn't see any proofs, she just saw the campaign. It's a monumental cock-up."

The ad, which also appears in the latest issue of Vogue, has forced Hockley to issue an immediate apology.

"Hockley both requested and was told that the item was a vintage piece and apologises for any embarrassment caused to Stella McCartney. It is not Hockley's intention to use the image again," a spokesperson for the company said.

i really hope that stella mccartney sues this company because i find fur used for fashion disgusting in any way, and i find it utterly disgraceful and distasteful that the model was wearing it in an advert. every time i see adverts with fur, i get so disgusted with the animals that were killed just in the name of fashion. i really do hope that stella files legal suit and make this company learn their lesson not to use fur again

Fur = Murder.

I hope Stella sues the (probably mink) pants off Hockley. There is no reason for wearing fur (especially where I live b/c it is hotter then you know where most of the time). There are plenty of alternative materials to keep you warm.

I received a vintage fur as part of an estate settlement when a family member died. I took it to a construction site and had it burned in their trash bin.

Oh, please — Stella’s a huge hypocrite. That bra is made of SILK. So it’s “save the mink,” but “screw the silkworms”?
