Industry Interview: Disney Rollergirl
This week's Industry Interview is Disney Rollergirl, fashion industry blogger extraordinaire who has taken time out from her busy schedule to tell us a little bit about her day job:
I'm a freelance stylist, journalist and consultant which means I'm either playing 'beat the clock' trying to organise clothes and models for shoots, flopping around in my pyjamas researching articles or mooching around parties and clubs to keep tabs on what people are wearing. I'm extremely nosy and love people-watching so my job is really my hobby but with a salary attached!
See after the jump to hear about vintage showrooms, her micro trends for A/W and which band she's listening to at the moment...
What was the most exciting/interesting thing that happened this week?
Visiting my favourite vintage showroom, Cassie Mercantile. I'm shooting a bunch of new faces for all the model agencies and I've been in vintage heaven playing with all his fab old sweatshirts, army surplus and preppie knits.
Which trends do you think are going to be big in the next few months?
I like looking at micro trends. I'm really loving the rolled-up trouser, the return of the loafer and the return of the nineties minimalist. The one we'll all be sick of come January is tartan. In fact I'm quite sick of it already!
What are you wearing to death at the moment?
I'm on a big preppie tip so straight leg Levi's with a small turn up, Ralph Lauren blazer with gold buttons and my old Bass Weejun loafers with white socks.
What was the last book you read/album you listened to?
The book I'm reading right now is Helmut Newton's autobiography - fascinating, and surprisingly funny. I don't buy CDs so I've been listening to Glasvegas on Youtube.
