Chinese designer, Qui Hao, scoops Woolmark Prize
Up-and-coming Chinese designer, Qui Hao, has won the inaugural Woolmark Prize, sponsored by the Australian Wool Innovation.
"I'm coming to Paris," he declared, after scooping 100,000 euros prize for his winning entries, which included a Merino white wool dress encircled with knitted orbs. "I'm looking to move to the next stage."
Hao, who beat out fellow designers including Louise Goldin, now plans to use the prize money to transfer to Paris.
The presentation was disrupted by a small group of PETA protesters, who were campaigning against mulesing, a common practise in Australian sheep farming.
