Sophia Kokosalaki enters the denim race
London-based designer Sophia Kokosalaki is adding a new string to her bow by launching a high-end denim collection, which will debut next month.
The six-piece all-black range, including denim jackets, mini skirts and shorts, will form part of her first pre-collection for spring/summer 2009. They are described as 'sophisticated and with a London-street-style feel.'
"This collection is very me," she told WWD. "I wear denim all the time and I always wear black."
The new venture is possible, thanks to the backing of Staff International (which also owns Diesel) and is headed by Renzo Rosso.
"I'm very pleased with my business and the relationship with Renzo Rosso, who is very respectful of my work," she added. "The brand is growing fast, with more accessories and a new jewellery line."
Her new capsule range doesn't come cheap, it will sit at the higher end of the market selling for US$386 to US$1,236 a pop.
