Model Ruslana Korshunova's death ruled as suicide
The tragic weekend death of young model Ruslana Korshunova has been ruled as suicide. The 20-year-old's sudden passing has shocked the fashion community after she plunged to her death from her New York apartment on Saturday afternoon.
According to a medical examiner's report, the cause of her injuries was related to that of someone who had taken their own life. The findings contradict friends and family who told the media that Korshunova seemed in good spirits.
Korshunova, who is originally from Kazakhstan, has appeared on several high fashion glossies including Russian Vogue and French Elle. She has also starred in ad campaigns for DKNY, Vera Wang, and Christian Dior, and walked the catwalk for Marc Jacobs (pictured above, left). For the past three years, she had been dubbed the 'next big thing' in Vogue profiles.
Her model agency, IMG, is reportedly still grappling with the terrible news.
"We're shocked and our heart goes out to her family," said Zach Eichman, an IMG spokesman.
According to the Daily Mail, in the months leading up to her death, Korshunova left several emotional-revealing poems and comments on her social networking page.
"It hurts, as if someone took a part of me, tore it out, mercilessly stomped all over and threw it out... My dream is to fly. Oh, my rainbow it is too high," she wrote in January.
