CQ Pick: Ashley Olsen pays homage to YSL at CFDA Fashion Awards
Just one glance at what guests were wearing at last night's CFDA Fashion Awards and it was clear who was on their minds. Ashley Olsen paid homage to the late great Yves Saint Laurent and his famous Le Smoking suit, by choosing this black tuxedo from Calvin Klein's resort '09 collection.
The petite twin scored our pick for best dressed in this simple ensemble, featuring cropped sleeves and high-waisted trousers. I especially like how she has kept things sedate by teaming it with a white open-fronted shirt.
Others to show the designer their appreciation included Diane von Furstenberg, who opted for a vintage YSL pantsuit to open the ceremony.
"Yves was an artist who always surprised us," she said of her friend. "He used to say he wanted to be Matisse, but I think Matisse would have wanted to be him."
