Nicole Farhi awarded CBE from the Queen

farhicbe.jpgDesigner Nicole Farhi has certainly had an interesting few weeks. First she is cowardly robbed at knifepoint outside her home, then she is awarded an honorary CBE from the Queen for services to the retail industry.

"I am both privileged and delighted to be awarded this honour by Her Majesty the Queen for my contributions to the fashion industry in Britain," she said.

The 61-year-old was born in France and began her career in Paris before moving to London in the 1970s where she worked at French Connection for over ten years. In 1982, the designer launched her own label which has now grown to include homeware, shoes and accessories. She also owns a chain of restaurants in London and New York.

"I was born in France but I have been lucky enough to work in Britain for more than 30 years in an industry which, since the 1960s, has provided inspiration to designers all over the world," she added.
