Met Costume Institute Gala 2008: Blake Lively in Ralph Lauren and Christina Ricci in Givenchy

Two of my favourite celeb looks at last night's Met Costume Institute Gala in New York were from Blake Lively and Christina Ricci. Blake's recent penchant for Ralph Lauren saw her wear a black fishtail number from the designer's autumn/winter '08 collection. Note: short black evening gloves are making a return.

Scooping my vote for the best-dressed celeb on the night was Christina Ricci. She looked simply divine in a pink and red floor-sweeping gown designed by Givenchy. It was a fantastic choice for the petite actress, with a nod to the gala's Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy theme in embracing a Wonder Woman style bustier. Love the hair and make-up too!

Ricci looks stunning! I love the red bodice underneath it looks like she's a heart nestled in some pink loveliness.

Ricci was my favorite too. I also loved Zac Posen and his date in their combined nod to Superman. I'm at work now, but I'll write more about it when I get home.

Blake looks gorgeous! and it's nice to see Christina incorporate the theme into her outfit, since not many others did.

I love both dresses. I miss the old Christina, but both outfits are super.

Naomi Watts also looks fabulously old school Hollywood, but I haven't seen her mentioned anywhere.
