Marc Jacobs as Andy Warhol on the cover of 'Interview' mag June/July 2008

In a white wig and with stacks of white makeup on his face, Marc Jacobs is barely recognisable on this cover for Interview magazine. Channeling pop artist Andy Warhol (who co-founded the magazine back in 1969) for the issue's special Warhol-dedicated double issue, Jacobs also dons false eyelashes, a red wig and Louis Vuitton heels for the shoot with photographer Mikael Jansson.

Although the accompanying article by Glenn O'Brien draws comparisons between Jacobs and Warhol - the way they incorporate art into their businesses for example - Jacobs is quick to say: "I don't think of myself that way".

"Warhol is Warhol. He's practically a god. I thought, 'I'm going to get a lot of hell for this,'" Jacobs told WWD.

The cover image will also be printed on t-shirts ($35) and tote bags ($15), which will be on sale at the Marc Jacobs Bleecker Street store in New York from Thursday. All proceeds will go to the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh.
