Louise Goldin has her eye on the woolly prize
Young knitwear extraordinaire Louise Goldin is vying to win the prestigious Wool Secretariat Award, recently revived by the Australian Wool Innovation (AWI).
The award, now renamed the Woolmark Prize, was once won by Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent back in the Fifties when they were just wee things. Now the AWI is promoting the prize as part of its new partnership with Woolmark Co., which it acquired last year.
Ten promising designers including US-based Tom Scott, and our own Louise Goldin are among the finalists whose work will be exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris on 3rd July. The winner will receive manufacturing and source support up to the value of €100,000, as well as a retail space at Paris' Colette boutique.
As the AFI puts it: "wool, c'est cool!"
