Lordy me! Our courtrooms are about to get a designer makeover with the unveiling of a new judicial robe, designed by Betty Jackson which have been likened to a Star Trek costume, due to its colour coding design.
Lord Chief Justice, Lord Phillips, did his best Zoolander impression yesterday as he modelled the new gown which will replace the old traditional horsehair wigs and black gowns, as of 1st October.
"We've tried to keep a link with tradition. The idea of collar bands is retained in the coloured bands. It's quite a big thing after 300 years of history," said Jackson.
Well I'm no judge, but it sure beats designing Maccas uniforms, doesn't it?
