She's the woman with an on-and-off-screen wardrobe to make you salivate, who has fashion houses doing backwards somersaults wanting to dress her, and the enviable ability to pick and choose designer duds straight from the runway.

She has all the options in the world - but Sarah Jessica Parker instead selected this basic sundress for the New York premiere of hubby Matthew Broderick's film Then She Found Me last week.

And you'll never guess how much it cost...

The dress, priced at $8.98 (around £4.50) and designed by Parker as part of her Bitten range, is available at the famous clothing chain Steve & Barry's, where "everything costs less than $10".

Steve & Barry's has become something of a tourist attraction, as hoards of people converge on the store to pick up celebrity-branded clothes for bargain basement prices.

Other celebs who have lent their name to collections for the chain are Venus Williams, Amanda Bynes and Laird Hamilton.
