Frock Horror of the Week: Janet Jackson's kimono catastrophe at Alexander McQueen store launch

What is with all the kimonos lately? Is there some secret celebrity geisha girl conference going on that I don't know about? Because I really don't understand what would tempt Janet Jackson to try out this style out for herself.

Yes Janet, I know that it's Alexander McQueen, and that you're at the launch of McQueen's new store in L.A. but just because it's designer doesn't mean that it's necessarily going to look good. Especially when you're baps are squished so close together that you look like you're serving baked goods off your chest. Cut off the ridiculous sleeves and it may have looked a real treat on you.

I think that the dress not only bore absolutely no resemblance to real japanese kimono, but also that it looked dreadful on her. It was so tight that it wrinkled against her hips, the shoulder were padded out into straight lines, and her breasts were pointing in opposite directions. She should try real kimono, worn properly it would hide the lopsided breasts and look both lovely and dignified.

How the hell is anyone supposed to look stunning in that? Janet looks good, though. Not a piece to be taken too seriously. More whimsy than anything...

If she had had her hand on her hip and was genuinely smiling, it might look better; here, she looks sick of posing for people. I would be too.

i think the dress and the woman look amazing. it's a beautiful dress on a beautiful woman. i think what's upsetting you is the pose. it looks mechanical whereas the dress is flowing and organic. what's wrong with her breasts? i swear, some people simply go hunting for problems that aren't there.
