Woody Allen sues American Apparel over billboard image

American Apparel is in hot water with actor-director Woody Allen, who is suing the retailer for using his image in advertising without permission. Allen filed the lawsuit claiming $10 million in damages after billboards appeared in Hollywood and New York featuring his image, taken from his film Annie Hall, next to scantily clad models.
The image also depicted Allen as a Hasidic Jew with a long beard and black hat and Yiddish text meaning "the holy rebbe."
The 72-year-old says he was never contacted by American Apparel to ask for his consent to use the image, which falsely implies that he endorses the brand.
