Versace's new political agenda

74778315.jpgThe Italian parliament is about to get a fashionable addition with Santo Versace becoming a member of the State Chamber.

The president of Gianni Versace SpA has won a seat in the country's parliament, following the victory of Silvio Berlusconi as prime minister.

"I am taking this very seriously," Versace told WWD. "I decided to run because I want to do something concrete for the future."

Rumours are mounting that Versace may even be headed for a cabinet post when Berlusconi finalises his 12 ministers and presents it to Italy's head of state.

So France has Carla Bruni and Italy has Versace, and what do we have? Gordon Brown... enough said!
