Stella McCartney lands global sunglasses deal
Stella McCartney is well on her way to becoming a global brand, with new stores in India, and now she has landed a deal with Luxottica Group SpA to distribute her range of sunglasses worldwide. The Brit designer's new agreement begins January 2009, with the first collection to launch under the deal due in summer of that year.
"This new agreement is geared toward strengthening further the presence of Stella McCartney eyewear in the market and aims to further increase the international development of the brand," said Marco Bizzarri, chief executive of Stella McCartney.
McCartney first began producing sunglasses with Safilo in 2003, that agreement ended last year. This new deal has been secured for six years, with the option for an additional five years on top of that.
