Why does every celebrity new mother announce that they're designing a maternity collection? It has often been reported that it's difficult to find maternity clothes, especially in your last trimester, but there are plenty of maternity brands out there and being a celebrity you can probably get custom made designs made for you. But no, they want to dress all other mums-to-be. The latest celebrity mum off the rank is Nicole Richie. Hot off the heels with the announcement that she's launching a jewelry line in September, she told WWD that she to launch a maternity line later this year. "Thank Nicolas [Ghesquière]. I wore so much Balenciaga during my pregnancy that he was one of my main inspirations. I wore jeans until six months and heels until nine months. When my shirts got too short, I wore Joel's [boyfriend Joel Madden] with a jacket on top."
If you think her line won't fit your growing baby bumps, rest assured Richie will have you covered in the bump size department as well creating pieces for casual and dressy occasions. "My line will be about making women look and feel good at a really emotional time. It's about showing your best self, not your tired, worn-down self. Guys don't go through that, they just don't understand," she said.
I am glad I will not be needing maternity clothes any time soon.
