Ken Livingstone is after your vote and he is appealing to the fashion community to rally behind him ahead of the mayoral elections next month.
The current London mayor has launched his arts and creative manifesto yesterday, vowing to secure London Fashion Week a permanent location within the capital (finally!), as well as improving conditions for models in the industry.
"London is a world centre for fashion. Great designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and John Galliano use London as a place of inspiration, to experiment and to launch new ideas. I will support steps to ensure London continues to launch the new talent of the future," he said.
Livingstone plans to work directly with the UK fashion industry to work on ongoing issues such as discrimination against non-white models, and pledging to support initiatives to assist designers from ethic backgrounds.
"I will ensure there is support for the new design talent that is the bedrock of the industry. I will help Fashion Week establish a permanent venue in the capital," he added.
"At the same I will work to improve conditions in the industry, particularly for models, through ensuring that the recommendations of the Model Health Inquiry are implemented."
