Is a London black cab the latest must-have fashion accessory?

Have I missed a memo or better yet... the latest issue of Grazia? Because it appears that I have skipped out on a new, rather strange emerging trend - the black cab. Kate Moss has got one, so you can bet your last fiver that fashionistas all over town will probably start looking at taxis soon as something to drive, rather than be driven around in. And I wasn't wrong...

Daniella Halayel, the designer behind the label Issa, has also invested her pennies in one of these shiny staples of British society. And being the creative type that she is, she has even modified her cab with an Issa motif, TV, sound system and a specially-designed dog bed. There's also a driver to take her wherever she pleases in an matching Issa uniform.

Oh dear...

I suppose if you were Kate Moss, it would make sense to have your very own black cab, if only to help out in times when a hasty exit from the paps is necessary. And it would certainly have its advantages - taxi lanes, special parking, picking up drunk fools then taking their money and dropping them off at a different location...

  • Well I think Kate's friends (since they were the ones that purchased it for her) copied me..

I'm from the UK but live in Los Angeles and it's always been my dream to own my own vintage (1970's) black taxi. Which came true a few months ago, it's a serious head turner and I love being driven around in it. Especially get a kick when people do a double take because of the right hand drive.

    Oh dear indeed. I have a feeling it's a bit mindless-sheep-following-the-leader.
