Bruce Oldfield shows off his McDonald's designer duds

Earlier this year we blogged about Bruce Oldfield's strange new venture - McDonald's. The British designer once favoured by Princess Diana, has been employed to work his magic on McDonald's staff uniforms... and the outcome? Meh!

Admittedly what can you do with a brief that must consider practicality one of its highest priorities.

"I could have picked out lime green highlights - but I think that might have worked for a week," he told the The Times. "I wanted to do something that would stand out, but without being too quirky or eccentric. Eccentricities are fine for a photo shoot, but then the reality kicks in."

The realities of beige and neutrals, and a rather hideous burger brown shirt and trouser suit (blergh!) The only one blessing I can see is a black kick-out skirt, printed blouse and scarf combo, but even then I can't help but picture a flight attendant. Not much to work with is it?

"One doesn't necessarily think of McDonald's and chic in the same sentence," he added.

I think you've said it in one Bruce.

They needed a designer to make them the same hideous barf-coloured colourblock collared shirts the fast food industry's been infested with for a decade?
