Agyness Deyn unleashes the denim jacket debate: Would you or wouldn't you?

agydeyndenimjacket.jpg

After her appearance at the i-D party last night, Agyness Deyn has got us divided over whether the trusty denim jacket is still in vogue. She fronted up to Bistrotheque in east London in a cropped denim jacket, flicked hair and Betsey Johnson prom dress. Earlier, she was spotted in the same jacket worn over a white tiered dress and bright red tights. While some seem to think that it only reinforces her Tatler title as Britain's best dressed, others believe that Agy is suffering from a touch of the Billy Idols. What do you think? Has the denim jacket had its day? Cast your vote in our reader poll after the jump.

  • Agyness Deyn is BEST known because she has her own style. On many fashion sites/blogs/magazines, the denim jacket is veiwed as a classic piece that will never go out of style... Kind of like jeans. The style changes (cropped, distressed, dark wash ect) but it sticks around non the less.

    I like her combination with the prom dress. It's a cool and a little off kilter. Style, to me, is all about

    1) Knowing what works for YOUR body;

    2) Defining your personal blend (are you eclectic? classic? trendy? ect);

    3) Buying classic pieces;

    4) Mixing the three above together based on YOUR lifestyle and prefrence.

    Things will ALWAYS come and go but a no to one, is always a yes to someone else. Real style is feeling good in what you have on, making sure it fits your body well and NOT buyings something based on if it is on trend or not.

    While there are a LOT of things she wears that I would NEVER, I appreciate the fact she does her own thing. She has figured out what works for HER! Good job!

  • I absolutely have never stopped wearing denim jackets, since the 90's. I think they are a classic.

  • Helen

    I think you can wear anything if you do it confidently. and I think that's her secret. Instead of worrying about whether or not it was in style, she just wore it.

  • Ti works on her, but no. People in my area are still in mullets, so I prefer to leave the 80s untouched.

    There should be a category: Yes, I would if I looked like her.

    Alas, on me I'd probably look like a refugee from a mid-80s German rawk band.
