79887218.jpgThe design duo behind 6267, Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi (pictured), have been named as the new creative directors of Gianfranco Ferré.

The pair will take over the top job, replacing Lars Nilsson who unexpectedly left the label before the fall shows in February, barely completely one collection.

"We are honoured and happy to carry forward the name of a great brand like Gianfranco Ferré," they said.

"[He] has always had mythical status for us. His natural aptitude for the grandiose gesture, his sense of the dramatic, architectonic severity, and his peerless knowledge of materials are now for us a great source of motivation. We would like to be worthy of him."

Ferré passed away suddenly in June last year, after suffering a brain haemorrhage, he was 62-years-old.
