If only all first ladies could take a leaf out of Carla Bruni's book. While it might not be the show-stopping evening gowns that we usually see on the supermodel, France's new first lady was all class yesterday when she met the Queen. Opting for a demure grey skirt suit by Christian Dior, cinched in at the waist with a thin black belt, Bruni finished off her outfit with a matching pillbox hat, black gloves and bag.
The former supermodel and her husband, French president Nicolas Sarkozy, are currently on a two-day visit to Britain, their first time as a married couple. And it was obvious that the new Mrs Sarkozy was playing down her glamorous image with this choice of outfit.
While some have likened it to Jackie Kennedy, others say it's better suited for a school mistress.
