Dipping your toes into the waters of the romance trend doesn't necessarily mean you have to cover yourself in fluffy pink frills, but as the above pictures prove, you can do if you want! Adding dashes of bold colour like at D&G or trimming with snakeskin like Christopher Kane stops the look from being too girly. Of course you can go all out - Dior's lacy slip looks more like a nightie than a dress, and Monique Lhuillier's tiered gown is the ultimate in frothy fantasy. Just watch it if you have big hips!
If full-on frilly frocks are too much for you, take a leaf out of Marc Jacobs' book and choose slinky satins dressed up with flowers and pearls instead, or add sparkles like Galliano or textural interest a la Rodarte. J Mendel turns the tiers a little more subtle by streamlining the shape and choosing a softer fabric in a duskier colour. Perfect if Barbie girl isn't your style.
