Giorgio Armani designs for Alicia Keys
Looks like Giorgio Armani is Fallin' at the feet of Alicia Keys - the wardrobe for her next world tour will be exclusively designed by Armani himself. The two have become friends through a series of collaborations over the years (she performed at his charity 'One Night Only' event in 2006; he dressed her for the 2006 Grammys and 2007 AMAs).
According to Vogue.com, the costumes will be inspired by three of the looks from his collections, and follow a colour palette of white, black, gold, crimson, platinum and aubergine. They will include a "crocodile-embossed leather vest with Swarovski crystal buckles" (together with Armani's new lacquered 'Alicia' jeans), and a "sequined tunic with crystal-beaded fringing". Saving the best 'til last, the finale will see Alicia don a "tiered silk taffeta top with circular pleats embellished with Swarovski beading". The dancers and musicians will wear a variety of looks from the Emporio Armani, Emporio Armani (PRODUCT) RED and Armani Exchange collections.
So what do the two stars have to say about each other? Alicia gushes, "Armani is phenomenal! He knows how to make clothes that are perfectly tailored to a woman like me. His designs are the epitome of class, timelessness and edge and we are a perfect combination! We plan to make history!" If the exclamation marks are anything to go by, she seems excited. As for Armani, his endorsement of the singer is as just as glowing: "Combining a magical voice with a captivating onstage presence, Alicia is a performer we will justifiably be comparing with the great Aretha Franklin in years to come."
